Cameron,
Just bought "Tribute to B wilson", Loved it! The songs you pick is on the same page with me, "I bet he's nice" is by far the best song that all three of the Wilson Boys sang on together. One of Dennis's best! Nice choice! Loved the pic's of you in 77' must have been a blast for you to be there!

As a 60 year old man, I grew up with the Beach Boys' music as a soundtrack of my life. I really admire Brian Wilson's work. Cameron Michael Parkes has done a very great album here. He respects the original songs but also injects his own feel for the songs with his own take on them. I love all the songs but especially "Everything I Need." Does anyone know where I could find it by Brian or The Beach Boys? Again, this album is terrific!!! Thanks CMP!!!

Ken-- Almost! But have been busy working on The Jan Berry All Star Tribute along with the new Box O' Clox CD.
More on all this soon. ---cmp

From the first papa do ron de ron to the fade out on Spirit of Rock and Roll, this cd is by far the best Brian Wilson enterpretive album produced by anyone to date. The tracks are not merely a reproduction of the originals as we have heard in earlier attempts such as The California Project; the tracks have been recorded with subtle improvements to arrangements. Take, for instance, She Rides With Me: Cameron produced a track that is far superior to the original Paul Peterson single. Although I consider myself to be a collector of 60's surf and drag music, (even from here in Montreal), there were 2 titles that I had never heard before. Several previous comentators have waxed on Cameron's talents so I will refrain from being redundant. I have listened to this cd numerous times. The thought always returns....these tracks were played, sung and recorded with respect; often with much more respect than the original producer, Brian Wilson. I say Bravo to you Cameron. I hope that your substantial efforts will bear enough fruit for you to continue with further projects of this type....Could you all immagine a ''Cameron'' version of BIg Gun Board or many of the obscure Christian/Usher tunes....The mind boggles.
Thanks Cameron.

I've wanted to cover Sweet Mountain for SOOOOO long! After having been given a bootleg in 1989, I just needed to do it, but you beat me to it. Good going. Have you ever noticed that Sigur Ros' track Svefn G Englar on Agaetis Byrjun sounds a little tiny bit like it? Well, maybe not really, but something about that album has the underwater vibe of that song.

thank you so much for the BW
tribute- it was a fine rend-
ering and in some ways fur- ther extended the meaning of the original. David

this is probably my favorite Tribute album that I've heard for Brian Wilson. The track selection & production is great! I found it at a local Circuit City, I was so excited when surprisingly finding it. I really think Parks' did a great job. He picked some of Brian's best music, artistically and lyrically. It seems he picked what was most important to Brian, his kids, the ones he loves, and wind chimes. I love the Love You tracks on here. the version of I went to Sleep is almost more peaceful than the BB version. the bonus track of Saturday Morning in the City is great, it just breezes right through just like a Saturday morning. The Spirit of Rock and Roll is great with the Be My Baby backing track. I love the transfer of tracks from I wanna Pick you Up to Everything I need (both something that BW wrote for his kids). great purchase!

I have always found it interesting that Brian Wilson's music is most appreciated by other musicians, and the higher calibre the musician, the more likely they are to really 'get' what Brian is all about. Well, Cameron Parkes is certainly one who 'gets it'. This is a wonderful CD. A real gem of a find.... melodic, impeccably recorded and produced, and Brian Wilson's music is expressed here with an obvious deep respect and love. I found it deeply touching. I really enjoyed the set list here of 'lesser known' pieces. We all know and love the popular 'hits' but I have to admit there's a few on here that I had not heard before and they are wonderful songs. Listening to this album is like discovering gold! The singing, musicianship is top shelf. Indeed, Cameron's voice is of such calibre that he would have fit right in with the Beach Boys as an easy replacement. He displays incredible versatility vocally and also shows great taste in the arrangements which are beautifully balanced and layered. Presenting the music of one of pop music's most uniquely greatest talents could not be an easy task, but Mr. Parkes does so with capability, sensitivity and creativity.

The opening 'Prayer', Cameron's own composition, simply blows me away. The vocal layering is amazing, and hauntingly beautiful and moving to my spirit. It's pure brian-influenced, and like most every song on here, you would swear those were the vocals of the Beach Boys you were listening to. It is a great opener for setting the unique 'vibe' of this set. 'Gonna Hustle You' is a great nostalgic rock n' roll piece that grows on me every time I listen to it. It really gets under your skin, and just has wonderful sound. Same with 'I Do', just a very infectious piece that carries that sunny, innocent, happy 'purity' that was so present in Brian's best work. The 'Smile' set, 'Wonderful', 'Wind Chimes', 'Vegetables', and 'I Went to Sleep' are all wonderful, and although I hate to say it, I actually prefer these to the Beach Boys versions. These are 'fleshed out' and beautifully arranged and recorded. Gorgeous singing, Cameron! God, I got chills listening to 'Wonderful'.

'Little Children' is a song I had a hard time warming up to off of Brian's first solo album, but here, it comes to life. 'I'll Bet He's Nice' is maybe my favorite track on here. Such a great song and carries with it some pretty complex emotion. This version is very true to the original, only 'cleaner' and just sounds better. Great arrangement, and layered vocals. GREAT! 'Solar System' is a song I never heard before, and its remarkable. Just beautiful and full of the unexpected musically, which of course is what Brian is all about. This song has complex and interwoven changes. Wonderful, 'ascending' vocals...... I change my mind, this is my favorite track! 'I Wanna Pick you Up' is another gem, and another song I had not heard before (and I"m a 'serious' Brian Wilson fan!) God, I love this stuff. Youthful innocence defined. I'm going on 50 years old, but I am a child again when I hear this music. The album ends with an excellent choice. 'Everything I Need' gives me goosebumps. Here, one of Brian's strongest melodies is presented with simplicity and beauty.

You may suspect I'm going overboard where with my accolades, but the truth is, it's THAT good. This entire album is so well done and expressed in a 'vibe' that is so true to the original artist that it is nothing less than inspirational. Cameron Parkes has obviously carefully absorbed Brian Wilson's subleties and most importantly, his spirit. For it is THAT SPIRIT that comes across when I hear this beautiful music. Brian shared with the world a priceless gift of sunny innocence, joy and childlike hopefullness and happiness. For me, Brian Wilson's music is Love defined. Well done, Cameron Parkes, for soaking it in and presenting it again through your own immense talent in a fresh and engaging way.

This world badly needs more of this stuff..... I look forward to volume 2!

The Brian Wilson tribute CD is a wonderful ode to Brian's talent and is performed faithfully, with just the right touches of spice. The song selection covers the majority of Mr. Wilson's career, from very early on rockers(I Do, Gonna Hustle You) to some of his most beautiful, introspective songs (Windchimes, A Day in the Life of a Tree) Cameron Parkes seems to be a true fan and has done a great job in capturing the spirit of these songs. I play this CD all the time! You will ,too.

What a find the Brian Wilson tribute album was for me. I ordered it on Amazon.Com at the same time that I ordered Brian's newest CD. Now, after hearing the Tribute that Michael has crafted, I wish that I had ordered it earlier so that I would not have to wait to enjoy it. The Tribute CD has been in the number 1 position of my car's CD player since the day that I received it and it being constantly played (and sung along with).

Thank you for the EXCELLENT tribute to the one-and-only Brian Wilson.

If you miss the harmonies of the Beach Boys and the good feelings you got from listening to them, then this album is for you. It is spirit lifting and just plain fun to listen to. Cameron does a masterful job of bring it all back. You forget that you are not listening to Brian Wilson and company. A real joy to listen to and a must have for your music collection.

Certainly one of the best Tributes ever assembled! Start to finish these are truely heartfelt takes on some known and lesser known Brian Wilson tunes. Cameron's ability to combine diverse songs and musical elements into one thoroughly enjoyable and musically cohesive album is an achievement that I have yet to hear anyone else do! Personally, I'd love to hear more of what Cameron may have up his sleeve.
